A Royal Visit Before The Royal Wedding
Bride to be Kate Middleton will not be joining William on his trip to flood affected regions of Queensland and Victoria after being invited by Prime Minister Julia Gillard.
The palace said Kate would not join William for the trip, because it was an official royal visit. A rep for Kate and William has said the pair "discussed the issue and felt that because Prince William would be representing the Queen that he should visit alone. Kate looks forward to visiting on another occasion."
Prince William will also visit earthquake-ravaged Christchurch and Greymouth, the scene of the Pike Mine disaster in New Zealand.
A spokesman has said: “The reason for the visit was that the royal family wanted to show solidarity with the Australian and New Zealand people at this time of devastating natural disasters. They've watched the unfolding tragedies, first in Australia and then in New Zealand, with great sadness and disbelief.”
Prince William arrives in Australia on March 19
